Creepy Carrots
Creepy Carrots was written by Aaron Reynolds and illustrated by Peter Brown. It won the Caldecott Honor award in 2013. The story follows a young rabbit who believes he is being followed by the carrots he is eating in a field. The illustrations look as if they are black and white pencil drawn with only the carrots drawn in color. The illustrator did a great job of portraying the authors meaning by keeping the colors dark. While the story begins making the readers believe it is a scary book, in the end it turns out to be a silly book. Keeping the carrots in color adds the whimsical aspect to the story.
