Literacy Questions

1. How would you describe the best reading experience you could possibly have?

I can think of a variety of places that I could have a very positive reading experience.  My family enjoys camping and I absolutely love reading a good book by a warm fire in the evening.  I also enjoy reading on any vacation days, especially rainy or cold days.

2.  How would you describe your very best writing experiences?

My best writing experiences have been those that are personal and about myself or family.  I have always dreaded sharing any of my writing so I enjoy writing most when I do not have to share.  My favorite things to write about usually include past experiences and people that have helped shape and mold me.

3.  How do you set up these things for the best reading or writing time you could possible have?
-light, music, body position, food and/or drink, wiggling or being still, nearness of other people

When I am reading or writing, I like a dim light.  I find it easier for my eyes to read in natural light. I cannot begin reading or writing with noise but if I find a good book, noise will not stop me from becoming engulfed in the story.  I have on occasion had a warm drink like coffee while I am reading but I find it distracting to eat while I am reading or writing.  I am probably at my most still when I am reading and I typically enjoy reading or writing when I am alone.

4.  How long does a writing or reading session need to be for you to get really involved and get a lot of work done?

For me to get really involved in my reading or writing, I typically need at least 20 minutes.  If it is less time than that, I often forget what I have read or written.

5.  What is the best place for you to get lost in reading?

The best place is probably on my couch wrapped in a warm blanket.
